The Incredible Tale of Stephen Schwarzman
Stephen Schwarzman’s story is one of generosity and dedication. A year ago Stephen placed number 53 on the list of America’s most wealthy individuals, but it is his tremendous accomplishments in the business and finance world not to mention his contributions to society which set his business-man apart from the crowd. His life has been motivational to numerous people worldwide and he has made good use of his money to better many people’s lives as well. In the 1980’s Steve co-founded the Blackstone Group with his business partner Peter Peterson, initially it was a private equity and financial advice firm. And as everyone knows, the Blackstone Group evolved into the massive company it is known as now. Spending many of his early years in near Philadelphia, PA, Stephen went to school in the Philadelphia suburbs. After graduating from high school he went on to study further at the respected Yale University and was awarded his degree in 1969. Harvard Business School was the natural next step in his education, here he received his MBA in 1972. Then he commenced his career with Lehman Brothers investment bank, based in NYC. Steve was appointed to the boards at the unusually young age of 31. Stephen Schwarzman donates to a variety of liberal arts as well as assisting as an assistant professor at the prestigious Yale School of Management. Beyond this, he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in New York, NY. In addition, he told the public in the spring of 2008 that he had presented $100 million to the New York Public Library to help them put up a new building. Stephen is also one of the trustees of the library. It’s scarcely surprising that Stephen A. Schwarzman has become part of America’s elite: As one of Times Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People alive, Stephen is these days widely followed by the mass media and influencing markets globally. His quick rise to power in the financial industry is nothing short of spectacular, not to mention the fact that his unstinting support of music and the arts has undoubtedly inspired the business world in general.
So the financial space waits in anticipation to see what Stephen will do next. To summarize, Stephen has, in retrospect, had a positive influence on both the financial space and to the world as a whole.
